In Pharoah’s dream, seven fat cows are eaten by seven lean cows, and seven large ears of corn are swallowed by seven lean ears of corn. Yosef interprets that seven years of plenty will be followed by seven years of famine. He directs all of Egypt to prepare adequately by storing up grain during the years of plenty.The Sfat Emet brings this story down into the personal realm:What can we learn from this passage? To prepare ourselves well in days of plenty, in those times when holiness is apparent to us. We should fix that radiance firmly in our hearts, so it may be there for the bad times when holiness is hidden.As we increase the light in the world each day of Hannukah, can you take some of that light and store it away for later, when the holiness might be more hidden?
